The Breach

There's a hole in the sky, but don't ask me why, because I don't know.

{Yet another ruiner warning for the Things category, knowing how and why the Breach came to be were mysteries that were naturally solved as the story progressed, meaning this entry could ruin some of that tension. -Sam}

The Breach is the most common name for the giant hole in the sky that started my journey to becoming Inquisitor. Caused when I interrupted Corypheus in the middle of a ritual to sacrifice Divine Justinia V and use the Orb of Destruction to attach the Anchor to himself, it was the largest and most problematic example of the phenomenon that would come to be called Fade rifts. Effectively an enormous tear in the Veil between our world and the Fade, the Breach allowed hordes of demons to spill into our world, and they would have overwhelmed Thedas had it not been for the actions of the Inquisition. Shortly after it was opened, I was able to use my glowy hand to stabilize the Breach, stemming the tide of demons, but I wasn’t strong enough to completely close it on my own. The Inquisition recruited the mages to our cause, who supplemented my power to the point that I was able to close the Breach for good. Until Corypheus, desperate after the Inquisition kicked his arse in the Arbor Wilds, used the Orb of Destruction again and made an even larger rip in reality, knowing I would come to shut it again. Which, after claiming the orb and killing Cory, I did, effectively ending the danger of the Breach. There is still a vague, green scar in the sky where the Breach used to be, but it is no longer a threat to Thedas, thanks to a true hero, the glowy hand.
