Fight for the kingdom, bound for glory, armed with a heart of steel, I swear by the brothers who stand before me, to no man shall I kneel.

Located in Frostback Basin, Stone-Bear Hold is the home of the Avvar clan of the same name. Nestled on the cliffs and rock pillars above Cloudcap Lake, it is a beautiful and impressive place that has everything a clan could need. In addition to the typical houses and utility buildings for preparing food, tools, and supplies, there is a feast-hall sitting by itself on top of a spit of rock sticking out of the lake and an arena for training and gladiatorial rituals. Another feature important to the Avvar way of life is that the hold is highly defensible, with only two proper routes in or out, a precarious path along the cliff’s edge and a narrow opening in the rock leading to the inner section of the basin. I traveled to the hold in order to secure an alliance and safe passage with the Stone-Bears, and I worked with their ruling thane, Svarah Sun-Hair, to build the trust between the Inquisition and her clan. This meant performing perfectly normal tasks like taking part in the aforementioned arena’s (non-deadly) competitions, finding lost family members, and figuring out what to do with a member of the clan who had merged with a spirit. We also helped out against the Jaws of Hakkon, another Avvar clan who had moved into the area and quickly worn out their welcome. To that end, we rescued the Stone-Bears’ hold-beast, Storvacker, who the Hakkonites had kidnapped, and helped foil the Jaws’ evil scheme to unleash their god and wreak destruction on everything in their path. Winning that battle restored peace to Frostback Basin, and left the Inquisition in good standing with Stone-Bear Hold. Which, when combined with how pleasant I find the place, means that if I need a vacation I might have to make up a reason to go back there and relax in the sun a bit.
