Emprise Du Lion
Emprise Du Lion
Heading into twilight, spreading out her wings tonight. Highway to the danger zone, I'll take you right into the danger zone.
Emprise du Lion is a cold, rocky region of the foothills west of the Frostback Mountains. Sitting southwest of Skyhold, almost directly between the castle and the Exalted Plains, it is riddled with elven ruins that became home to various destructive forces during the fight against Corypheus. The Red Templars had moved into an abandoned castle named Suledin Keep not long before the Inquisition arrived there. In short order they started to recruit the townsfolk of a village called Sahrnia to work the nearby mines, quickly resorting to violence and kidnapping. Not only were the people forced to hew ore from the rocks, they were used as living hosts for red lyrium, and the area was quickly overrun by enormous formations of the tainted material. The whole operation was being run by an ancient demon named Imshael, who claimed to be a “choice spirit.” We had to root him and his corrupted minions out of the keep to finish the inquisiting of the area. Somehow, though, that was not even the most dangerous part of Emprise du Lion. That honor would go to a section on the other side of the valley, only accessible after the Inquisition repaired a very old bridge. There, ancient elven coliseums had been taken over by not one, not two, but three high dragons. One fully grown dragon near a populated area is dangerous enough, but three is potentially cataclysmic, and we had to clear them out. That section of Emprise du Lion is at least on the short list of the most dangerous areas I inquisited, which is truly saying something when you consider the places I’ve been and the monsters I’ve had to kill.
