It's good to be king and have your own way, get a feeling of peace at the end of the day.

The current rulers of Ferelden, Alistair and Anora are an interesting pair brought together by circumstances beyond their control. Anora is the daughter of legendary general and eventual traitor Loghain Mac Tir, and is as bold and charismatic as that lineage implies. She was the wife of King Cailan Theirin when the Fifth Blight broke out, though, by most reports, she did much of the actual work of ruling the country. After Cailan was killed at the disastrous battle of Ostagar, Anora’s father became regent and Anora began to suspect his motivations. Meanwhile, Alistair was a former Templar recruit and young Grey Warden who accompanied the Hero of Ferelden as the two, the last Wardens left in the country, attempted to stop the Fifth Blight. It was also eventually discovered that he was the bastard son of Cailan’s father, Maric, meaning he had a claim to the throne if he ever felt like pursuing it. He is funny, sarcastic, and charming, but had no interest in becoming King. Unfortunately for him, fate, and the Hero of Ferelden, had other ideas. The HoF decided that the best future for Ferelden would be one where Alistair and Anora married and ruled together. He was able to convince both parties, and the pair have been in charge ever since. It has worked, however, as the couple’s strengths seem to complement each other well and Ferelden has recovered quickly from the destruction of the blight. When the Mage-Templar War erupted, they offered refuge in Redcliffe to the beleaguered mages, though the Templars simply followed them. I encountered Alistair and Anora after returning from the future in Redcliffe Castle. It had been taken over by the Venatori, and the royal couple had arrived with soldiers to take it back, and strongly recommend that the rebel mages leave with me. Our interaction was brief, though we did correspond and assist one another several times afterwards, with the Inquisition even helping stop an assassination attempt on the pair. Despite being a bit of an odd couple, King Alistair and Queen Anora have proven to be capable rulers and friends of the Inquisition. I doubt they’ll want us disbanded or anything like that in the near future.
